What is OpenCode?

OpenCode is an open-source AI coding agent. Model-agnostic (works with Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, local models), runs in your terminal, IDE, or desktop. Source at github.com/sst/opencode. SKILL.md support documented at opencode.ai/docs/skills/.

How to install a skill on OpenCode

• Find a skill in the catalog or filter by your use case.
• Use the CLI: opencode skill install <owner/repo>.
• Or copy the skill folder manually into ~/.opencode/skills/<slug>/.
• OpenCode loads skills via progressive disclosure on next session.
• The agent fires the skill automatically when a task matches its description.

Compatibility notes

OpenCode's model-agnostic architecture means most SKILL.md files work without modification regardless of the underlying model. Things to watch:

• Skills referencing client-specific paths (~/.claude/, ~/.hermes/) should be adapted to ~/.opencode/.
• Skills calling out to specific provider tools (Anthropic-only Computer Use, OpenAI-only function-calling formats) may need adaptation depending on which model OpenCode is configured to use.
• OpenCode's tool-discovery is auto — no need to declare allowed-tools: for it explicitly, though doing so won't break anything.
